Growing Risk of "Another" Recession

Just when we had hope that we wouldn't have to hear the term recession for a few years........ hmmm, well it appears that the term is back.  Read this article to find out what the experts are talking about.  Why do economists believe that we could be heading into another recession?  What specifically do they list as possible factors?  What is your opinion of this article and its contents? and how might this impact you and your family or town?

This article is due, August 26th.

"The risk of a recession is now about one in three," according to Morgan Stanley and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

If we where to slip into another recession it would be horrible for my family. We barley dug ourselves out the first one just to be pushed further down a whole . 2 steps forward and 10 steps back.

Economists believe we could be heading for another recession, because of the economic weakness and the stock markets wild swings. The growth percentages declining in the german and french economies. I personally think we've had a good run. This will probably impact us greatly, but again, we've had a good run.

Going through a recession is probably the hardest thing a country can go through. We just survived one recession and now we might be going back to having another recession. To hear this is frightening because a lot of things were lost in this recession and it has affected millions of people across the country. Gas prices are high, jobs are needed, health care is being cut down or completely taken away from workers, even food at the groceries have risen in price. I don't know how we could survive another recession. If we slip into another recession I can't even begin to imagine what will happen to this country. I hope we find a way to keep us from another recession.

Knowing that we might be slipping into another recession is bad news. Last time was very hard for everyone. People are now just recovering from the last recession so that makes this recession even worst.

i think we need to take it day by day and the government should stop spending tax money and start using it for better stuff and they need to start to selling homes

If the U.S. has to go through another recession this one would be harder to get out of because many people are just now starting to rebound from the last recession.

i think that the Goverment just needs to sit down and think together, forget parties, they jus need to work together and try to figure this out cause all of us Americans are suffering more and more everyday so this needs to change, we need a change!!

I don't know what my family would do if the United States were slipping into another recession. . The last one hit my family hard, my grandparents lost there jobs, which resulted in them losing their house. The U.S needs to watch the spending. . A lot of families i know are just now recovering from the last one, & it would hit them twice as hard this time. . & now they are saying the recession is 1 in 3. I think it's going to happen again .

christina.c4 said...

knowing another recession could happen is well scary. more people will lose their jobs, more people will lose there homes. The artical stated "we are not ready to say this is the death knell for the U.S. economy" even tho they cant say it is or not the chance that it could happen is whats scary.

marykatew4 said...

I felt that this article was frightening, It showed that the U.S. is not the only country struggling with their economy. The statement, "The number applying for benefits rose 9,000 last week." This is frightening because the government will not be able to fund such an increasing group of people. This makes me picture more homeless, starving, and sick people. It also makes me worry we are headed towards another Great Depression.

Knowing an believing that another recession is coming is very freighting. Just to know that it might be back for a second time is like saying good bye to the U.S.

How will we defend ourselves this time with what weapons, what protection, we are not strong enough to take the recession on but even if we try i think that still with that most of the U.S. will be gone.

I don't remember being in a recession, because at the time my parents had very good paying jobs. So it wasn't as hard for my family back then as it was for most. But I believe the governments all need to get there acts together and figure the problems out.

i dont really remember the last recession because my parents have well paying jobs. i remember seeing things on the news about it but it never really effected me... i believe that if we go into another one then it will be really bad for everyone no matter your age or anything. we need to get our stuff together in this great country.

"The ECB said Thursday that one bank had borrowed $500 million a day for seven days through the ECB's dollar lending program. It was the first time since February that a bank had used the program. The bank wasn't identified".

How or why hasn't the bank that has been "borrowing" money from the ECB been identified? Without the bank being identified, then how will they fix the problem? Also I've noticed that they are able to discover that the money was being borrowed to a specific bank but yet the bank has not been identified. I hope that the bank is identified so this situation can be fixed.

Well, Obviously we have done something wrong again. The first time this has happened to us we looked at what was happening and corrected ourselves. They said that it was never gonna happen again. This is what happens when our government spends to much time doing their own thing and not listening. They think just because they work for the government they need to sit their and not do anything. Just watch the days roll by. Guess what? the people of this country cant just get up and do what they want to fix it. It just does not work like that. Im not saying that its all the governments fault either. The people know how our economy is going right now. Still people decide to use wasteful spending. such as Giant t.v.s, cell phones, ipods, stuff we really do not need. If the people really wanted to help make a difference they would get up and try. It takes more than 1 to change this country's economy. So basically, The people and the government need to start working more together in order to fix where our economy is headed.

if the US went into another recession then i don't know what my family or anyone would do. I know so many people with families saying it's so difficult just to get by as of right now, I couldn't imagine if the people saying those things lost their jobs and had no income at all coming into their household. The US really needs to find a way to fix things like this, But really when will that happen?

if the recession continues many good people who try to get forward and provide for their families wont be able to do so. People have already lost jobs that they desperately need to keep to not be homeless or broke. The single mothers thats the only thing they have is a job what are they going to do? If the recession continues people will resort to violence, we will have riots, killing, and people will start stealing everything, so they will have to find a solution now!

That's far below the 6 million homes that economists say must be sold to sustain a healthy housing market.

With this happening and my dad being in the real estate business we might not sell a house and make no money here soon because homes are not selling.
