Elections and the Economy

Economy not key to incumbent winning

Due: Nov. 12th

The Presidential Election is Tues. Nov. 6th and there are many things people have on their mind. Do you think the economy is a hot topic for the future president? What is this article saying about it? Do you agree with this conclusion? What do you think the most important issue is for the president.

Yes the economy is a hot topic. We are still loosing jobs and our national debt is too high. The unemployment rated has went down so Obama must be doing something right. The article says that the economy is based on the president and how well they are doing. I kind of agree with that because the president is responsible for our economy. I also kind of don't agree with this because the president before you might have messed up the economy and the new president has to clean up the mess (Like how Obama had to clean up George W. Bush's mess).

The economy is a very hot topic, because it influences so many factors in America . I don't agree with people saying that the president is in charge of the economic situation. I think its up to Americans to stop relying on other countries goods and start purchasing more American made goods we need to help our selfs and tell our government what needs to be done.

Yes the economy is a hot topic for the election because it directly effects the voters. We are in debt and we don't have a sufficient supply of jobs in america. The article says the economy is based on the president and how well they are doing. I completely disagree with that statement.Contrary to what most of the ignorant people in america believe the President really doesn't have all that much power over the economy, The only thing the President can do is raise of lower taxes. They can't cut the deficit and they can't control the economy. I had to study the Presidnet an his powers in ap government. They all say this and make plans for the economy because it'll get them votes.

I think that yes, the economy is a very hot topic. The artical is saying that the economy is based all on the president.I dont agree with that conclusion because I think that we have a big part in the economy and because the person in charge before could have messed something up and then its left on the new presidents shoulders to fix it.

Yes, the economy is a hot topic. Even though the president can't really fix the economy if it gets worse it's his fault, if it gets better he's the hero. I don't agree with the conclusion of this article because we do have a big part in the economy.

The economy is yes, a hot topic and very important but isn't the only important issue. I agree with the fact the article pointed out that some major issues are being ignored due to the constant discussion of the economy. However, the economy is still huge. Job loss, debt and the overall status of this country depends on the economy. I do not think the economy should decide the president though. For example, I don't believe people should be voting Romney because they think Obama put this country in debt. The debt has been collecting for decades. It skyrocketed with Bush in office. Four years is not enough time to fix a problem that has been in place for decades. People need to take that in to consideration when they judge Obama. I believe the most important issue this election is the economy, but by no means do I believe this to be the only issue.

Yes,I think the economy is a hot topic. I do believe we have a big part in the economy, so I don't really agree with the conclusion. I don't really think its completely the presidents fault if the economy gets worse, because you can't just blame the president for everything that goes wrong, he's just one person. Also the former president might have made mistakes or something thats affecting the way things are now, the president cant help that. The article is pretty much just saying the economy is based on what the president decides or does.

Unknown said...

Yes this is a hot topic, and yes it is the presidents fault all blame should be put on him

I do think the economy is a 'hot topic' for the future president, arguably the biggest. The article supports the claim that the economy is a big topic for the president, I agree with the conclusion. I think the most important issue for the president is to not crash the economy, trying what they can do to help it while making sure not falling too far down from its original point.

Yes the economy is a very hot topic. People continue to loose jobs and cost of living (gas prices for example) continue to increase. The article says the economy is based on the president but it takes more just than the president. We have congress and senators who are also responsible for our economy and all parties need to work towards a common goal to help all americans. The middle class is the backbone of america. Our debt started with the Bush's administration and it takes alot longer to clean it up.

The economy is the a hot topic this year. I think the president is to blame for the economy. He is costing us jobs.

Yes, the economy is always a big topic in the election. It's always a matter of who can fix it faster. However, one term can't clean up 8+ years worth of a decrease in the economy. Also, one person isn't the cause, therefore, one person can't fix it. The President, Senate, and Congress will have to work TOGETHER to fix the economy.

yes the economy is a very hot topic right now, and their are a lot of jobs being lost right now. but not all blame should be placed on the president, some of it, yes, but it can also be put on most other people that are involved in US politics.

The economy is always a hot topic. The article says that there has been a link between economic downturns and presidential losses. He says that the president should not be the only one to blame when there is a downturn. I agree with him. I have never believed that Obama and other presidents were the sole reason for economic problems.

Of course the economy is a hot topic, because it has been for several years. We are trillion dollars into debt and jobs are rather scarce. The article says that the economy is based on the President, how "one-term wonders" lost, and how we are doing right now with our economy. I agree and disagree with the conclusion of the article. It takes several years to pay off debt, at least 10 years or so. I agree with the article when it says there are many other concerns other than the economy (harmful chemical in children's toys, food, cosmetics) but I think we have a big part in the economy due to not investing in money wisely and borrowing money that we can't pay back.

I think the topic of economy is important for the future president. In the article it said that the status of the economy will play a role in this election. The economy means everything in todays time, without a good economy we will not have the money, means, or resources that one must have in order to live a basic day-to-day life. I think overall the most important issue the president has is the economy and employment. He has to make this nation as independent as possible. So in conclusion, even though the topic of economy is a broad one, it is very important when it comes to a presidential election.

yes, i believe our economy is a hot topic, especially for the future president. Jobs are still being lost and we are deeply in debt. the article talks about how the economy is based on the president, his ecisions, and how well/bad they are doing. I do agree with this article because i believe that our president is responsible for our economy along with his many other duties as president.

Unknown said...

Yes the economy is a very important "hot" topic. I believe that the president isn't fully responsible for the economy but he for sure has a huge say in it. I do believe that we also have a big say and deal in the economy, so it could go either way.

The economy is a VERY hot topic for our next president, although economy isn't totally a presidents fault, a president can only control so much, he cannot have every bill passed that is made, it also has to go through congress first.

The economy is a very hot topic, and constantly a topic of conversation. This article says that the president is responsible for the economy. I greatly disagree with this because the president is not in charge of who buys what shares of stock.
The president does not control who purchases what and who sells what. He is not in control of how people spend their money, or save their money. He can only take control of so much. Im not sure what the most important thing for the president to worry about is but I definitely don't think that it is the economy. He deals a lot with this, as he should, but there are more important things for him to take control of. Everyone has different opinions of what these things are.

The economy is an exremely hot topic. without a dought! In a way the presedent is pretty much responsible for these kinds of issues but not fully responsible. i bet the president doesnt know half of what happens in economy until the people protest against it and blame the president. yeah hes pretty much in charge of "Everything" but its not all the presidents fault. all the pressure is on him. that isnt fair. and yeah many jobs have been lost and we have been in debt and we still are. that needs to be fixed. but all that cant happen in a short amount of time. we have to be patient and wait.

Unknown said...

I do think the economy is a "hot topic" because people blame the economy, whether good or bad, on the president when in all honesty it's not even his fault. No matter who it is. The article pretty much says that people blame the president because they don't understand what's going on. I agree with the article because when people can't understand what's going on, it's always easier to blame something or somebody else. I think the most important issue for the president is national security, at the moment.

Unknown said...

I think that the economy is a hot topic for the election because everyone is worried about it and they want to vote for a president that will help get this nation out a debt. I don't think we should blame our current president for our debt because he isn't the only one who has caused it.

Unknown said...

I think that the economy is a hot topic for the election because is worrying about it when they're going to vote for which president they want. I don't think the president is fully in charge of people going into debt. We have lost a lot of jobs from being in debt.

Unknown said...

The economy is a hot topic for the next president. It is constantly talked about. We are 16 trillion dollars in debt. I also don't agree with the conclusion of this article.

Unknown said...

Yes the economy is a hot topic because its been really bad lately and I think it's just going to keep getting worse if we don't do anything to make it better. We are in debt so bad and I think we need to start getting out of it. I dont agree with th conclusion because I think that we have a big part in the economy and the new president is left with our mess.

Unknown said...

Of course the economy is a hot topic. That's all this world is about now. Money. I disagree with the conclusion because the president didn't cause this great debt of ours, we did. Us people who keep spending money and more money on everything.

Yes,the economy is A very Hot Topic. It is a hot topic because the way the economy is going right now is not as good as it could and should be.The economy is really important because we are living in it,so we do have a big part in it,Hopefully our new President can help us fix it!

The economy is a very hot topic. It's a hot topic because the economy is really going through a lot of different thing and there economy could be much better than it is now. The economy is important because people wouldn't have jobs and even more things. I hope that it will change in these next 4 years.

Yes, the economy is a Hot Topic. The economy is not nearly as good as it should be. Since we're all apart of the economy we have some cause of why it's so bad. Our president can fix problems but it will take time. Since the economy is so bad, we"ll just have to be patient and see what happens.

who becoming the next president is a big topic to talk about and we need to choose our president carefully.not ponting names or naming fingers but our last president didnt do to good. so if we wasnt a good economy then we need a good president anyone who isnt barack obama. and i dont agree with the last statement.

the economy will always be a hop topic wether it is going up or down. so we have to see who be the best for our nation

The economy is a hot topic but, it is not all up to the president. The economy is based on everyones daily lives and choices. The president can only do certain things for the economy whether it's good or bad is depending on each person as an individual.
