Not Ready for College?

As you get closer to graduating from high school, the thought of college should be entering your mind. What percent of students did not meet any of the college readiness benchmarks? Is this surprising to you? Is it higher or lower than you thought it would be? Do you feel like at the end of your senior year you will be ready for college? What do you think would help you get ready for college?

72% of students did not pass the college benchmark. This surprised me because I thought that most students were more dedicated to their college prep. I think I will be ready for college because I have a college fund and have gotten good grades so far.

72% of students did not pass the college bookmark. most students need to keep grades up. i think im ready because i have good grades and get involved with alot of things like sports.

Seventy-two percent of kids did not pass. This is surprising to me because I would think people cared more about whether or not they are able to get into college. It is much higher than I thought it would be. I believe I will be ready for college by the time I graduate. I could save money to prepare myself for it.

72% of students did not pass the college benchmark. Most students need to think more about college prep and get ready for it cause its coming soon. i think i will be ready cause i got a better thought on what im gonna do in my life.

Twenty-two percent of students did not pass the college readiness benchmarks. This is not really surprising because so many students just don't care about school or college so they don't try or they don't get the help they need. Twenty-two percent is lower then I thought it would be. I feel like at the end of my senior year i will be educationally ready for college, but not financially ready because i have no money to pay for it & my parents didn't save me any money & will not help me out with it. I think that getting a Pel-Grant from a college would help me enormously so that i could support myself & then get my classes & text books paid for.

I was suprised to find out that 72% weren't ready for college. I knew one out of four drop out of college and tons switch careers multiple times. However I thought it be more in the ball park of 58-62%. I feel i will be ready for college because I've taken AP classes which have given me a taste of what its like. I feel more AP classes will further prepare me for college

72% did not make it to the bookmark. it does suprise me cause you have to be smart to go to college. i think i am ready for college because i get good grades and i'm in sports.

When I read that seventy-two percent of 2012 graduates didn't make the bookmark for colleges. It doesn't really surprise me but at the same time it does. I know that there are a lot of people who do not care about their schooling but for myself personally i'm not a good test taker. I get really nervous about some test especially in my weaker subjects like math and history. So maybe that has something to do with it. I haven't taken or signed up for an ACT yet but, i think i'm going to sign up for one this year. I'm ready for college and i know what i want to do but, i don't know what section of the career i want to join. It's all happening so fast, it's time to step up and start saving money, start looking around, and start making my own decisions.

When I saw that 72% of students didn't pass the college benchmark, I was pretty shocked. I mean they spend a lot of money to go to college (if you're less fortunate to get grants/funds from family/etc) to not get prep. and and be ready for the college benchmark. I know I will be ready , I have my college paid for and just have to keep my priorities straight and I'll be good.

72% of the students did not pass the benchmark.I think I will be ready for college if I stay confident/positive and keep my grades up!

72% of the students didn't pass the college benchmark, it wasn't that surprising though, its about how many i figured wouldn't. i'm not sure if i will be ready for college at the end of my senior year or not because right now, i don't really know anything about getting to college.

It's hard to believe that 72% precent of students didn't pass. I think i'll be ready for college by the end of my senior year , but right now i have no idea what to do , or how to even go about getting into college.

72% of students did not meet any of the college readiness benchmarks. This is very surprising to me. The percentage of students that didnt pass is higher than I would have expected it to be. I think I will be ready for college. Doing good in school now will help me prepare for college.

72% of high school students didn't meet any of the college readiness benchmarks, this is very surprising to me because the percentage is so much higher than I'd ever guess. I feel like i will be ready for college because I am taking the classes that are preparing me for the hectic college student life.

As crazy as it may sound 72% of high school students are not ready for college. This shocks me but just a little because I see at school who actually try to be successful in life and people who don't try to set a good start to their future. I know I will be ready for college because I am taking AP classes and studying most of time.

72% did not pass the college bookmark. This doesn't surprise me because I do not care how other people do. I think I'm ready because I pass all my OGT's and I have good grade and an advance class. I too joined alot of activities, band is the most thing I do, I join anything with the word "band" on it.

72 percent of people did not pass the college benchmark. This is surprising to me because you would think students would be more serious about planning their future. I do believe that I'm ready for college. I don't have the most amazing ACT score but that doesn't mean I'm not college material. I have good grades and study habits which will help me in college.

72 percent of people did not pass the college benchmark test. This is surprising to me because i thought the percent wouldn't be this large. It it much higher than I thought it would be, but I know that I will be ready for college because I take my studies seriously .What would help me get ready for college is taking and doing good in my honors classes, and taking AP classes.

72% of people did not pass the benchmark test.It isn't really a surprising to me because alot of people did not prepare themselves for the test.I know that I will be prepared and ready to go to college,I am preparing myself now for college.I am actually excited for college and I cant wait to get there !(:

Even though 72% of college students didn't pass the benchmark exams, I still think that I could make it into college if I was given the opporutunity. I get pretty good grades and I'm a really good test taker so I think my chances would be good.

it said 72% of college studnets did not pass the benchmark , that is kinda bad . i think i could of made it , But then i dont . i dont think im ready for college . i dont think im a good test taker .

Unknown said...

Although 72% of college students did not pass the benchmark test, I believe I could get into college because I am a good test taker and received advanced scores on all of my OGT's which makes me believe my chances would be high.

Unknown said...

72 percent of 2012 classid not pass the benchmark test. I think i could get into college because I usually get good grades and passed all my OGTs the first time, which makes me awesome.

The fact that 72% of students didn't pass the college benchmark makes me feel like the chances are getting smaller in getting accepted into a college. Since I'm confident, I still believe I am capable of passing the benchmark. I am also a good test taker.

72% of students didn't pass the college benchmark test. that number is a lot higher than i thought it would be. i think i am ready for college because i do get good grades, even though college is nothing like high school, i'm still pretty confident. maybe taking college classes in high school will give me a little clue of what college is like.

72% of the people did not pass the benchmark for college. This surprise me because I thought more than 72% of the high school would have passed. I think I will be ready because I have good grades and I have been research about my career.

I was shocked to find out that only 72% of students are not ready for collage. I believe in my self that I'm more dedicated than that. Because you can't get no where In life without a collage degree.

72 percent where not ready this did not shock me. Most students don't realize how fast makeing a decision for college comes they cram their decisions last minute. I don't know if ill be ready as soon as I graduated I think I will take my time making my decision on where I wanna go . I'd rather go slow then be rushed.

The 72% failure rate is quite a shocker, but it is not a very accurate way of portraying a person's level of readiness for college or a career. The ability to simply regurgitate information has no real significance in comparison to the ability to apply a person's knowledge and understanding to accomplish something in the material world.

Suprisingly, the 72% failure rate did not shock me. It is higher than I expected, but not a surprise. I believe that our school expectations are way too low. I do not believe that I will be ready for college after my senior year, because of this reason. We should be expected to perform on college level by AT LEAST our junior year and very few of us are.

Unknown said...

The 72% failure for the class of 2012 did not surprise me a whole lot. It's sad to think that this high of a failure rate is expected of us. We should rise above this expectation and work harder to achieve high goals. I believe , in most subjects, I will be ready for college, considering I started this year with post secondary and it isn't too bad.

Knowing that 72% of students are not ready for college really shocked me. I think I am 1 of those students that are included in that 72% but I know if the teachers help me i can achieve the requirements to be a college student because i am a great learner

72% of students did not pass the benchmark, thy is a very scary thought, someday the future of our nation will rest in our hands. Students need to focus on school, because the choices we make now are the choices that affect us for the rest of our lives.

72% of the students did not pass the benchmark because I feel like I'm part of that 72% that will not pass but with the help of the right teachers I could prepare and become ready and its important for kids to be focused in school and make right choices

72% of students didn't meet the benchmarks and that's shocking I'd hope I'm in the other 28% when I go and I'm not sure how well I'll do I'd think if you go you should make sure your ready to go so that number is shocking

72 percent of students did not pass their college benchmark test. it was suprising because i thought students who were willing to go to college were going to show a little bit more initiative. i may not be ready now but by my senior year i think i will be.
