I think this because the money is still there but stretched, many will cut other expense to make the gift money still there for example my family has done this over the years. Their are 3 of us and my parents spend alot of money on us not counting my grandparents i believe that people in this economy today should cut on how much they spend because that is just driving them in a deeper hole.

i think that the spending rate for the upcoming holiday is going to increase because even with a bad economy people are going to buy presents for their loved ones. Personally i know money with my parents is hard in this economy and they both make pretty good money. And i also know that no matter what my father tries his hardest to get me and my brother what we want for christmas so if alot of people are like that then the spending rate will increase.

Im not the person who usually goes by stats. i hate them honestly. I dont think our spending will go up this year. All i have heard about all year is how bad the economy is doing and i have personally watched prices go up for items that i buy and it causes me to just run out of money faster. So when prices change i have to go back and find a whole new way to budget my money due to raised prices.

I agree because people loving getting people gifts for christmas. Spending will increase from 2010 because the economy is not as bad as 2010 and 2009. saw I do think people will increase on spending.
i agree a little bit people love to spend money and gifts for christmas but if they are afraid of no be able to pay bills that they wont spend that money they have.
people spend thousands when the holiday season comes. rather if its thanksgiving , halloween or christmas. This year i believe it will definately increase because people start saving ahead of time when they do have jobs , and jobs this year has increased majorly .
i agree with this article people will do whatever they can to make the holidays better. most people cut their bugets so they can have more money during the holidays.
I agree with the article that the holiday spending will increase, though not just for the rich. My family, and I'm sure other families do the same, cut other expenses so we can buy gifts for the holiday. We may struggle, but only for a month or two.
