I think that one of our main problems are websites like Youtube where you can get on basically listen to the entire CD. Even worse are things such as Frostwire where you can download entire CDs, and other sites where you can download entire discographies. For me, other thing is the quality of music, most music is all the same. A manufactured pop star that releases the same CD as the person before them. You don't even need talent anymore to get an album released. Its ridiculous. Music is my life, it is what i live for and throughout the year there are very few CDS that I actually want to own and most of the time artists with actual talent don't get nearly the same amount of publicity as the clones of the pop industry.
It's because of frostwire an limewire everythings free.
With ipod's and MP3 players you don't need cd's they also have the ihome completely eliminating any need of a cd player. The internet has completely defeated any purpose of buying anything really.
One of the main reasons for the decrease in my opinion is that of frost wire, along with other sites where you have the ability to download full albums. i mean who's gonna pay hard earned cash, on something they can get for free, with a low chance of getting caught. That or Slacker, youtube, or one of many sites you can find on google. for example i typed in "free music downloads" 227,000 in .12 seconds, and there was a link on how to do it legally. its crazy, if its illegal they should take it off the web. i know it will take time, but its been going on for years, they need to put a stop to it.
the music industry is talkin about the improvements for the 2011.unfortunately cd sales in the us have dropped by 20 percent in 2010 we had the lowest in sales total according to nielsen sound scan from the overall artist one of the most best sellers was eminem with 3.4million but nielsen said were not impressed.musicdownloads,videos,singles,etc have decreased theres a percent that says that they have download and purchased their music legally but what they dont mention is how the other two thirds get theirs wich is oviously (piracy)....
The decrease of the number of cd's being sold, in my opinion, is due to illegal download sites. People use these sites to download music instead of buying the albums. In my opinion it's much easier instead of buying the whole album if you only like a few of the songs that are on it. Also people rarely even listen to cd's anymore now that ipods & mp3's are popular and a much easier way to listen to music instead of carring around a bunch of cd's.
The decline in CD sells is because of downloads of music or just simply looking up the music off the internet. Simple downloading websites make it easier for people to track down music and download to mp3 players, phones etc. Because of the music is free and easily accessible they rather much use a computer at home rather than going out of their way to go to a store and by an album
I think that the records sales have gone down much over the years because music these days can be downloaded from the internet. Its cheaper and its faster this way plus people have ipods these days not cd players. Plus with limewire and frostwire its free, and people like free stuff.
I think that record sells are decreasing because people are downloading songs from different sites instead of going to the store an buying the cd's. I think that people thats get on different sites and getting the songs for free are being smart because different stores ars putting out cd's for like 15.00 and thats a lot of money when you can just get on the internet and get the whole cd for free.
i think its because all the sites allowing people to download the whole cd for free then they just make copies and gives them to their friends so they don't have to buy them then the sales for that cd will drop.
The Reasoning for a decrease in CD sales should be expected. With programs such as Limewire, itunes, Frostwire, and websites live Youtube, nobody has a need to to get out and buy CD's when they can save gas and energy and just get it for free instead. Why would people want to go out and by things when the product that they are looking for is simply at there fingertips. Whether they use these programs legally or not actual CD's are not needed anymore with pruduct like the Mp3 and the ipod.
I think that the decrease of album sales was expected because technology usage is increasing rapidly. Albums are an inconvience nowadays when you can just go on a computer and download music illegally.
This article was about how illegal music on the internet hurts artist slaes.I think that the leaking of artist songs has decreased record sales because have already been exsposed to the songs or albums from the illegal music sites such as lime wire an frost wire.
The problem that has been arousing for the past couple years is that more people are buying digital music players, and download music illegally. CD's are a thing of the past! On top of the people illegally downloading music, they also can just log on to YouTube and practically listen to a whole CD. When you can get music for free, why would you want to buy a CD? Or if people do buy CD's, they buy them to put on their digital music players. The times are changing. CD's are on their way to being extinct.
Reality is that the music industry is falling off. You would think that with the advances of technology it would help but truth is it makes it worse. Personally I understand why people download music online because with sites like frostwire and others alike you can't help but download it. For those who think that this is extremely horrible then consider that their were gas stations where you could fill up whenever you like for free with less than a 1% chance of getting caught. One thing I do agree with is the fact that limewire is now illegal. But until people can put forth the money and time to beat these huge company's lawyers in court then the music industry will continue to suffer while we continue to download illegally.
In my opinion the reason for the large decrease in the music sells is because of the internet. You can listen to all the music you want on youtube and download music for free on frostwire. Today almost everyone has a phone, ipod, or mp3 that can hold tons of music, but they're not going to pay for it because it would get too expensive.
the music industry & album sales plummiting . this is happening because people are downloading music illegally . but sites like limewire and frostwire make it possible for people to do so . people are not going out and buying albums because its so easy to download music for free . and no one owns CD players anymore , everyone either has an iPOD or MP3 player . so the artist are not able to sale half as many albums as they used to ...
as long as there is a free anything site people will use it for it being easy and free. i borrow cds from friends so im still getting it free but its still paid for
i think tht the reason tht the CD sales have gone down is because now days every thing is online now.you can go out an but a whole album an put it on ur ipod..an instead of having tons of cd s to look through you have a small ipod.Also no one really needs CDs any more because in the car you can hook ur ipod into ur car radio..And personally i think its allot better to buy ur songs off of itunes than lime-wire or frost wire because the music quality is allot better.
I'm not surprised that music sales are going down when it comes to albums and up when it comes to online sales. The internet is making everything so much easier now. The internet sales going up only 1 percent is a little shocking to me but not much. I expected it to be more.
The reason I think that sales are going down is because of all the music sharing sites that are out there now. Livewire used to be popular but that isn't around anymore from what I hear, and I don't know what any other ones are really called but I'm sure that there are a lot more out there. So of course sales are going to go down, too many people steal their music nowadays.

Album sales are going down because of iPods. Not many people buy CD's anymore because they can just go on the computer and buy it. I can't remember the last time I bought a CD, because I have an iPod and I can just get music off iTunes. So my opinion on this is that album sales are gonna keep going down since technology is improving.
Well my Opinion about this Article is Many people want a cd or Something like that.They just Go to the Internet and download everything they want.Because the only thing they want is sell everything they see in the Internet.Some people have like 5 or 6 Years maybe than didn't go to the store to buy a cd.They only think about new new and new Music and the only thing they have is the internet to download Everything they want to listen.

I think the reason for this decrease is because of the new technology, there are mp3 players, cell phones w/ web, computers with web, and people no longer buy cd's to play in stereos anymore because the prices are ridiculous. For example, at walmart, prices range from $9.99-$12.00, depending on how old the cd is, and how much they sell that particular cd's.
In my opinion, the reason for the large decrease of CDs sold in the music industry has to do with the internet in general. Why buy a brand new CD, when you only like a few songs off of it anyways? New technology has eliminated the need for CDs for this generation. You can find any music you would like for free now, and download it illegally. So many people are asking themselves, why should I pay?
A lot of people pirate the music to the new albums and releases which makes a lot of the big bands lose tons of money. You can also go on to Youtube and find all these songs and listen to them for free so that there is no point in actually buying the album. They also have a Youtube mp3 generator that you can if you want to put the music onto your Itunes. There are just numerous ways that bands lose money out of sites that do this.
i think the reason why the album sales are going down is because this generation is all about technology. like the inernet, they also have Ipods and mp3's. if it wasnt for the internet then the album sales would go up.
i believe the reason for the decrease in sells is because either the music's to bad for adults and children to listen to or people would rather download there music and i whole album on there ipods. today's music is pretty bad , i like old school music ,its good to me. if music were like back in the day maybe album sell would increase instead of decreasing?
I think that the decline in album sales have went down because not many people buy any cd's cause now days you can download music for free to like your ipod and your cell phones. Which that is why i don't buy cd's know more. I mean the more the technology the more the sales will go down. If the technology wouldn't be so good people probably wouldn't be able to download songs for free. But my comment will always be the same as long as the technology keeps going up people are going to be able to download free songs for ever. There is just so many ways that bands lose money out of the sites that do let people download free music.
The decrease in sells does not surprise me at all. I truly believe the reason why there are a decrease in sales because of all the pirate music sites. Even though its illegal people still do it. There are websites like Frost Wire, and Lime Wire that is bringing sale prices down. Does this emotionally effect me ? No , not at all. I feel this way because either way it goes I am still going to listen to my music. I believe this problem can resolved by shutting down all the websites that supports pirate music. If they shut these websites down people will have no choice but to buy cd's .
I think the reason for the decrease in the CD sales is because of all the mp3 and ipod sales. You dont really need to buy a CD when you can go to limewire, mp3rocket, or itunes and get the music for free.
ipods mp3's etc. theyre just simple and on the go people rather have thousands of albums on theyre ipod for free with music they choose to put on it than buy a cd(that can easily break and after so long start to skip) with only 1 or no songs they like on it. yea i believe that all the downloading sites are most likely the issue for the decrease but most people dont care i also doubt people will go back to spending money on cds
Music sales will continue to go down as long as free music websites are around because why pay for it if u can get it free.
I believe just as everyone else does, records sells arent up like they use to be because of free file sharing websites just like limewire even though limewire has been shutdown there are plenty of more websites that are similar. why would people go spend money on an artists cd when they can just download there songs for free?
No one buy's albums anymore.. people now and days get on limewire or frostwire and get the same songs free of charge.. same with movies.. As long as that software exists, then nobody will have to spend money on musik ever again
Personally, i would never buy a cd because i have itunes, frostwire, i had limewire, and those are sites that you can download music for free. So honestly, the rate of cd's being sold is so low because of all these sites, and ipods. Im not saying that cd's are bad, they just arent as portable and reliable as ipods and mp3 players.

CD's are becoming like records and cassette tapes are today.
They're just not up to date. These days you can have over 10,000 songs on something that could fit in your palm. Thing's like iTunes will take over. It's still the same as buying a CD, just not physically having it. But not only can you have that CD on your iPod or MP3 player, but thousands upon thousands more. And that's just what's more convenient for everyone and just an easier process. All things get replaced by better technology eventually. That's just how the world is.
As a musician myself, I'll continue to make CD's because I see them only appropriate if artists are selling them at concerts. It's a since of pride when an artist physically sells his music to a fan. And that's the only thing I think the world is losing out of this.
youtube+limewire=no sales of anything cd like. i think there would be a lot more physical sales of music if youtube and limewire and ipods wernt around but thats just not the case.
If there wasn't websites and programs where you can download any song you want then artist's albums would get sold because people would have to go out and buy the CD for the songs they want to listen to.
I think CD sales have decreased because who would want to buy a CD when they only want a few songs on it anyways? There is a ton of websites that you can download music from, people take advantage of that. Also you can put songs onto ipods and such, and their light and portable. Unlike CD players.
i think if there was not anything programs that you could download then albums would go up. but since there a lots of website then albums sales are going keep decreasing.
I think the reason the sales in albums are decreasing is because of all the access to free music we have. We have frostwire, youtube, and other websites that just give out the music. Why waste our money on albums when we can get it for free?
I feel that album sales are going down because people are getting to download music for free due to different internet music connections. Such as a new music mp3 download by the name of frostwire. Also another by the name of mp3 rocket. These sites are used to download free music rather it's to just have on your computer or to download cd's. I think there is nothing wrong with downloading music for free because some people cant afford to just go out and buy every new cd of the artist they lie. So why go out an waste a loot of money on a specific artist/artists album when you can just sit at the crib an download the whole album away for free of charge plus many more.

Album sales are going down due to computer websites that allow you to down load music for free. so most people feel the need to go out and buy albums. So there is really no need to purchase albums thats why the sales of albums are greatly depleting.
Do to ipods, limewire, and other things like mp3 players are making it almost an unintelligent form of recieving music. CDs are on there way out and it's making music unpersonal.

I think people are too dependent on getting stuff handed to them. they need to bleed their wallets if they want something. yeah limewire is free but if you really want it then pay for it yourself. if you buy the cd then you can listen to it in your car. people depend on computers too much. if you tell people they can get anything free online they're going to try even if it sounds crazy. free is like ringing a little bell everyone's going to try to get anything they can for free.
Since technology is getting stronger and stronger everything is getting easier and easier.Now that they have the ipod and youtube and lime wire there is no need to buy a cd because u can listen to what ever you want for free.I think that nothing will be worth anything anymore cause there making everything to where you would never have to leave your home again basically.
